1910 Census [30 September 2011]

The 1910 Census is a puzzlement. I found it only because I searched on the Sliger surname, and Heritage Quest (Library Edition) showed the results by county. I knew that Grant County was relatively near to Blackford County. The names and ages of the rest of the household certainly matched well enough. Why Thomas, instead of Grover? I'll probably never know, more than a century later.--AZeller 00:16, 1 October 2011 (EDT)

Marion Residence [11 January 2012]

I had assumed that the 1910 Census result was an isolated, almost happenstance thing. I have gotten the impression that Grandpa Grover put little value on a stable home, at least regarding location. But I had the certificate showing my mother born in Hartford City; I thought that uncle Leo was born there; it seemed that the Buckles lived in the same neighborhood in Hartford City for nearly forty years; Clara, Royal , and the stillborn son are buried in the Hartford City Cemetery. Using all these assumptions and impressions, I thought it obvious that this family lived mostly in Hartford City (I didn't even think to label this a thesis - I might have questioned it.) Now it appears that the family resided in Grant County, specifically several different addresses within Marion, for most of time it really was a family.
