Person talk:Grace Shaw (5)

Need sources!! [23 June 2009]

Source:Vital records of Weymouth, Massachusetts, to the year 1850 gives the births of children of William and Grace Richards:
p. 1:257: Richards, James, s. William, June 2, 1658.
p. 1:255: Richards, Benjamin, s. Will'm and Grace, May 19, 1660.
There is also probably a son named John, since John and Sarah Richards had a daughter Grace on 16 Mar 1689. Source:Descendants of Edward Small of New England : and the allied families, with tracing of English ancestry, p. 750 also mentions sons Joseph and William who are named in the will of William Richards along with wife Grace on 18 Jan 1680. The will apparently identifies James as the oldest son.

However, Grace Shaw is not named in her father's will of 1638, from which one might infer this cannot be her, she having died long before these dates? --Jrich 23:50, 22 June 2009 (EDT)

From Grace Shaw (6): Died by 1638 [23 June 2009]

Grace was not mentioned in her father's will so probably died before the end of 1638. While there are theories that she married Nicholas Byram (see Person:Susanna Unknown (45)), based on her baptism in 1621, she would probably not have lived long enough to have had any children. Therefore, probably all the children listed on this page should belong to Nicholas' second wife and eventual widow, Susannah, who was named in his will of 13 Jan 1687. The death date of 1698 shown on this page is probably a reflection of the date of widow Susannah Byram's will, 7 Sep 1698, and so, clearly has nothing to do with Grace, if she was at some time wife of Nicholas. --Jrich 01:03, 23 June 2009 (EDT)
