Person talk:Gaele Bouma (6)

Same person? [23 May 2013]

Gaele Bouma was not registered in Harlingen from Feb 1863 till Sep 1873. He came back from North America. Could he be identical with Gaele Bouma ?--Klaas 02:16, 23 May 2013 (EDT)

From Gaele Bouma (9): Same Person? [26 May 2013]

Gaele Bouma was not registered in Harlingen, Friesland, Netherlands from Feb 1863 till Sep 1873. He came back from North America in 1873. Are they one and the same person?--Klaas 00:57, 24 May 2013 (EDT)

This Gaele Bouma is my direct relative, so you've got my attention.... Did Gaele (9) and Ytje divorce? That would probably make someone want to go back to Netherlands. Or did Gaele (9) die about 1868? Or maybe in the Civil War?
Do we have NL death records for Gaele (6) and Wemeltje? --Pkeegstra 13:46, 25 May 2013 (EDT)
Here is Wemeltje's death notice. She died 13 Sep 1907 in Amsterdam. --Jennifer (JBS66) 14:18, 25 May 2013 (EDT)
... and here is Gaele's. He died 11 Mar 1904 in Bergen --Jennifer (JBS66) 14:20, 25 May 2013 (EDT) His death certificate is here --Jennifer (JBS66) 14:22, 25 May 2013 (EDT)
Swierenga says that the Pieter Bouma who emigrated in 1863 was born about 1844. Are there any other candidate Pieter Boumas of that age? (Also, how does one cite such a death notice as the above?)
I usually cite the death notices to the newspaper (sometimes citiation only or Source if the newspaper is in WR), record name=Familiebericht (the section of the newspaper the item can be found in). Here is her death certificate if you'd rather cite that :) --Jennifer (JBS66) 06:47, 26 May 2013 (EDT)
Thanks! I was too intimidated to even look whether scans for Amsterdam were available. --Pkeegstra 06:57, 26 May 2013 (EDT)
You're welcome :) Amsterdam can be a bit of a challenge... but http://genver.nl does help limit the scans more by date. Also, keep in mind that some of the books are separated - odd and even akte #'s, so you may have to look in 2 registers to find the document. --Jennifer (JBS66) 07:02, 26 May 2013 (EDT)

Well, it seems to me this is the proof we were looking for to link the Harlingen Gaele Pieters Bouma to Wisconsin. Wemeltje Vellinga and death in 1904. Thanks! I'll do the merge. --Pkeegstra 16:50, 1 June 2013 (EDT)
