Ferguson Co. 1931); FHL Film #1320611, Item 2 p. 21- In 1738 Virginia passed an act to encourage settlement of lands lying on the Roanoke River on the southern boundary of the Colony, in what was at that time Brunswick County. By 1746, the population had grown sufficiently that Lunenburg County was created. pp. 42-3 - Each year the head of the household was required to present of list of taxable individuals in his household.
