Married to a Williams? [14 October 2015]

There is a Wisconsin Death Index record (on Ancestry.com) for a Elizabeth A Williams, born about 1882, and died on 10 Jan 1961 (Certificate #001218). Does anyone know if she possibly married a Williams?--Metro09 19:27, 24 December 2014 (UTC)

Hi, Dean. Good question. I couldn't find a marriage record for them, but it looks like there was a divorce and a remarriage. In the 1940 Census, James Grieves is in an asylum in Janesville, Rock County, WI, and listed as divorced, and in 1920 he is listed as living in a hotel, and single.
Also 1940, there is a Harry H. Williams, 57, living with his wife Elizaeth E., 59, b. Iowa, in Beloit, Rock County, WI. In 1930, they were living in Midland City, Michigan, with Harry 49 and first marriage age 21 (abt 1902), Elizabeth is 49, first marriage age 19 (about 1899 or 1900), so this is a second marriage for both.
Elizabeth's first marriage must have broken up before 1910, as both Alvin James/James Alvin Greaves and Raymond T. Greaves are living with their grandparents James and Sarah Jones in 1910.
If you find a marriage -- or a divorce, let me know. --GayelKnott 05:55, 25 December 2014 (UTC)

I was thinking the same thing Gayel...I'll keep checking around to see if there is documentation/records to back this up. I have had this one on the back burner for awhile so I think it is time for me to pursue it more. Thanks.--Metro09 11:30, 25 December 2014 (UTC)

Found this short obituary...if this is Elizabeth Jones it would strengthen her date of death being on 10 January 1961...unfortunately it does not list a little more information.

WISCONSIN DELLS - Mrs Elizabeth Williams, 79, Briggsville, died Tuesday, Fedderly funeral home, Wisconsin Dells.--DeanT 17:31, 13 October 2015 (UTC)

Hi, Dean, I went back and looked at what we've got -- at this point, I'd say go ahead and add Elizabeth as married to Harry Williams. There is a gap in the time for Wisconsin marriages on-line, and that is probably when she remarried. Otherwise, you could order film(s) through the Family History Library and look for a marriage that way, but I think we've got enough to say this is the right person. But, it's up to you if you want to go with it. --GayelKnott 22:18, 14 October 2015 (UTC)

I will poke around a little more in that county to see if there is more information. Thought I might get lucky with a marriage reference.--DeanT 23:42, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
