Does anyone know the source of the information quoted below (copied from Edward's Person page)? It identifies his second wife as Sarah Salmon, daughter of Christopher Salmon. I have found this identification in a number of amateur family trees, with no citation other than other amateur family trees. The quote below looks like it came from a book. Is it out-dated information no longer considered reliable, or recently researched info? Thanks [EDWARD KATCHAM-1 (d 1655)] EDWARD KATCHAM, b ca 1590 (poss Kent, near Chatham, England), O (Tradesman), L (Cambridge, England; Ipswich, MA; 1651 Southold (CT Col.), L.I.; 1653 Stratford, CT), poss Immigrated 1629 Ship Hopewell of Winthrop Fleet (Salem, MA), Freeman in 1635, d 8 Jun 1655 (Stratford Plantation, Connecticut Colony), Will proved 17 Jun 1655; m1 MARY HALL 22 Aug 1619 St. Andrews Anglican Church (Cambridge, England) [ d <1639]; m2 SARAH SALMON ca 1640 [b ca 1600-15 (London, England), dau of CHRISTOPHER SALMON, (her m2 HENRY WHITNEY ca 1658-59, he d Oct 1673), d >1673. --DataAnalyst 21:35, 5 July 2010 (EDT) [add comment] [edit] One Edward or Two? [27 April 2012]Savage is under the impression there are two by the name of Edward (3:14) - but what appears here is one. Is there certainty about the single Edward interpretation? If so, I'll want to note the error in Savage and be able to indicate why this is believed. --jrm03063 10:37, 26 April 2012 (EDT) I don't have time to completely check this out, but between Families of Old Fairfield 1:359 and TAG 30:2-4, it appears that Jacobus and Coddington think there was one Edward with two wives. You could check those sources and see what you think. Gotta run.--DataAnalyst 20:55, 26 April 2012 (EDT) |
