Person talk:Deborah Unknown (103)

There is no marriage record to tell us the maiden name of Benjamin Thwing's wife. The Thwing Genealogy says her maiden name is unknown. Torrey says her maiden name is unknown, and all his sources have been checked. The Savage Genealogy has no mention of Benjamin Thwing (but any Savage marrying in 1642 would have to have been born in England, may be a relative but not a descendant of the American Savages, and so needs to be corroborated probably by English records). There are two sources that mention Deborah Savage and they are both unreliable encyclopedic sources which obtained the information from who knows where (tend to suspect they just printed what some paying customer told them, but don't actually know, so not only not authoritative for that reason, but inherently unclear why they think so, so not directly answerable which makes them unsuitable sources in a collaborative environment). Meanwhile the more scholarly sources say the name is unknown. How can the encyclopedic sources have found an answer when the people who study this in depth do not: almost always because it is not the right answer. The actual evidence to support this supposition is needed. --Jrich 15:48, 25 January 2020 (UTC)
