From David Hines (8): Duplicate [28 October 2014]

I think we're working on the same David Hines, with son Howell. Just wanted to let you know that I'm aware of the duplication and figured we can merge later, if necessary.--Sarahs 12:27, 16 November 2013 (UTC)

Hello. Hope you had a nice weekend. I see the duplicates that you are talking about - looks like some Colliers were duplicated as well. :) No harm done. I'll go ahead and merge them to get us back on the same track. --Cos1776 14:11, 18 November 2013 (UTC)
Followup - just to make sure this was done correctly - the merging has placed this David Hines as NOT ONLY the father of Howell Hines who married Nancy Collier (we both had that), BUT ALSO as the son of William Hines and Elizabeth Gross (i.e. the brother of Wm. Hines, Jr., the focus of a lot of our work lately). Is this correct by your notes? If it is not, it can be fixed. Just let me know. Thanks. --Cos1776 14:50, 18 November 2013 (UTC)

Hi. I need to sit down and think about David Hines. The Hines book may very well be correct and I may have the wrong David married to Christian Edmunds. It may be a few days before I can really focus on this. There are Davids everywhere!--Sarahs 16:53, 18 November 2013 (UTC)

And I need to think about Howell Hines, too.--Sarahs 16:54, 18 November 2013 (UTC)

If we stick to primary records as much as possible, it *should* sort itself out. I enter these passages from other books and researchers mostly just to get the pages going, but I always prefer to eventually amend the secondary sources with the primary records if we can. Regards. --Cos1776 17:11, 18 November 2013 (UTC)

David Hines and his wife Christian sold their land in Sussex County in July 1769; it was with the a view to removing to North Carolina. In 1784. David Hines Sr. sold his land in N.C. Subsequent records show him living in Effingham County, Ga. David Hines Sr. died in Effingham County, Ga. in 1793.James Hines was administrator of his estate. This information comes from a genealogy prepared in 1940 by a professional genealogist for one of my cousins. I am a direct descendant of David Hines Sr. and Christian Hines. This Hines line is easily traced because David Hines and his wife Christian signed deeds together. And, yes David Hines Sr. is a son of William Hines of Surry. Hello and Welcome Jmtucker27! Thank you for the note. This is a collaborative site, so please feel free to add your information directly to the pages along with the corresponding sources. Hopefully the professional genealogist also provided your family with the sources of the information, so that you can create citations. If they did not, don't worry, it is okay to add what you have now, and you or another interested researcher will hopefully come along and shore up the information with good citations in the future. Every little bit helps. I am happy to help you if you run into any snags. There is a bit of a learning curve to this site, but I do think it is the best one available for working together on genealogy on a big scale. Best Wishes! --Cos1776 14:16, 28 October 2014 (UTC)
