I'm curious why Daniel Boone Hatfield moved to Los Angeles. His son Wesley moved there with his wife Susan and their five grown children, including my great-grandfather Harvey Daniel Boone Hatfield. Why did they all move to Los Angeles?--Mikemcclenahan 01:48, 4 June 2012 (EDT)

Ever been through a Kansas winter? My grandfather moved from Iowa to San Diego in the '20s because someone had told him it never snowed in southern California, and he and his family stayed there for 40 years. California also had a much healthier economy than the older back-east states over a long period time. (Same reason so many refugees from the Dustbowl moved west a few decades later.) If you check through the California census 1880-1930 you'll find a lot of people born in the midwest. --Mike^Talk 09:39, 4 June 2012 (EDT)
