Son Reuben? [2 March 2011]

I noticed the text on Benjamin's page says that Benjamin and Hannah were the parents of Reuben who received the Medal of Honor. According to Reuben's tombstone, he was born in 1839, which would make it fairly unlikely for him to be the son of Benjamin and Hannah. Do you have any documentation for Reuben's birthdate (listed as between 1806 and 1814)? I'm not a Smalley family researcher. I'm just working on pages for Medal of Honor recipients. Hi Amy, I checked my files and apparently got that information from another researcher several years ago in an e-mail. I also checked the Medal of Honor recipients and found two Benjamin Smalley's that have received the Medal of Honor:

http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=9117200

I don't believe either of these is the Reuben Smalley from this family (their Reuben was probably born 20-25 years before either of these), so I've eliminated that reference from Benjamin's notes. I think someone may have been "jumping to conclusions", thinking that is was the same Benjamin.

Best regards,

Jim:)

That's wild that there were two Reuben Smalleys who received the MOH! Thanks for removing the reference that Benjamin and Hannah's son was one of them. -- Amy (Ajcrow) 16:25, 2 March 2011 (EST)
