[add comment] [edit] Did Not Marry Thomas FreemanSource:Mayflower Descendant, p. 14:193, Capt. Jonathan Sparrow's Wives and Their Children "The statement in the Brewster Genealogy that Hannah (Prence) Mayo's daughter Bathsheba, who was born in December, 1661, or very early in 1662, married Thomas Freeman, who was nearly fifteen years younger than herself, is also in error. Thomas Freeman (Thomas^4, Mercy Prence^3, Patience Brewster^2, William^1), born 11 Oct 1676, married 22 Aug 1706 Bathsheba Mayo (Nathaniel^4, Hannah Prence^3, Patience Brewster^2, William^1), who was born 23 Sep 1683, and died 9 Jan'y 1706/7, evidently without issue. Her death record calls her 'the wife of Thomas ffreeman and Daughter of Nathaniel Mayo', and it is recorded with the family of Nathaniel and Elizabeth (Wixam) Mayo, her parents. The wife of Thomas Freeman was a granddaughter, not a daughter of Hannah (Prence) Mayo." The births of all the rest of Nathaniel Mayo's children are recorded in Eastham, but not Bathsheba. Neither is she mentioned in Nathaniel's will dated 19 Dec 1661. The only reason to think that Nathaniel had a daughter Bathsheba, as opposed to the Bathsheba born to Nathaniel's son Nathaniel, is that the settlement of Rev. John Mayo's estate dated 15 June 1676 refers to "Samuel Mayo hannah and Bathshebah the Children of Nathaniell Mayo Deceased". (See Source:Mayflower Descendant, p. 9:121.) This must indicate a daughter Bathsheba since it predates the birth of the granddaughter by several years. For this reason it is assumed that she was probably born posthumously in 1662, and there seems to be no mention of her after 1676 that has been found.
