- ↑ Memories of Ruth (Zimmerman) Brickner: Zella had wonderful clear skin and was quite pretty. For some reason, she and Ed took a shine to me. Many times they would come and pick me up and take me home to stay with them for a few days visit. They bought me the only doll I ever owned. Zella and her husband were both "different" kind of people. Zella for example chewed tobacco. She could sit in a rocking chair and spit into the coal bucket clear across the room and it would make a "ping" noise. I can just see and hear this in my mind yet today, it always amazed me."
