Mrs. Zelia E. Briggs, 90, 41 Pleasant St., Auburn, died early yesterday morning at the Auburn Home for the Aged Women after a long illness.
Born at Littleton, May 29, 1871, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Daugherty, and was educated in Littleton schools. She taught schools in the Mars Hills area.
Many years ago, she married Harry S. Briggs at Littleton. He died at Norridgewock in November 1911. Mrs. Briggs has made her home in Auburn the past 20 years. She entered the Auburn Home for Aged Women in February 1954. She was a former member of the Norridgewock Lodge of Rebekahs, IOOF.
She is survived by two sons, Cecil Briggs, Aubrun businessman, and Leon M. Briggs of Portland; a daughter, Mrs. Netta Weston of Falmouth, Mass.; a sister, Mrs. Maude Jenkins of Augusta; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. |
