Zachariah Westfall

Zachariah was born to Cornelius Bogert Westfall and his first cousin Elizabeth Westfall in Montague, New Jersey and was christened on February 18, 1769 at the Machackemech Church. In 1773, he was age four when he moved with his parents to Hampshire County Virginia(WV) and was age twelve when his father died. In about 1787, Zach moved to Beverly in Randolph County, and on January 8, 1788, he wed Hannah Wolfe. They had:

They moved to Buckhannon, Lewis County, and on April 18, 1791, bought 179 acres along Hackers Creek, northwest of Buckhannon. There they had:

6) John S on 1 Nov 1800
7) Clark in 1803
8) Ruth in 1805
On April 17, 1809, Zach moved his family to forty-seven acres along Stone Run, about one mile south of Buckhannon. This is where the Stone River flows into the Buckhannon River and is presently part of Buckhannon. There was born:

10) Sarah in 1816
In 1827, Zachariah moved to land along Buffalo Lick, about five miles southeast of Ripley, West Virginia. This short stream feeds into the north part of Tug Fork and then becomes Mill Creek and flows through Ripley and on to the Ohio River.
