He was a small man, but did lots of business. He bought the old tannery that stood on the brook near where Frank Spiller since lived and moved it down to East Otisfield and kept the first store there. He lived in various places, but died at East Otisfield on the place where M.V.B. Jillson since lived. He probably built the house on Lot 15, range 3, Phillips Gore, where Isaac Durrell later lived. -History of Otisfield, Cumberland, Maine from the original grant to the close of the year 1944, Oxford, Me, William Samuel Spurr, 1953 Listed among Norway, ME immigrants in 1829. In Otisfield at 1850 census with real estate valued at $1500. In Otisfield at 1860 census with real estate valued at $3500 and personal estate valued at $1400. Gravestone: "Farewell my wife and children, all from you a father Christ doth call. Mourn not for me. It is in vain to call me to your sight again." References
