The paternal grandfather, Zacheus Adkins, was in all probabilityborn in the State of Virginia, as was also the mother's father, HiramAlexander. Zacheus Adkins, whose name heads this sketch, was educated in theschools of this parish, and at the early age of nineteen years he was united inthe bonds of matrimony to Miss Mollie McKinzie, a daughter of Lady McKinzie, and they have reared a worthy family of seven children: Ula G., Eddie E.,George W., Alice m., Lena A., John F. and T. Abbie. Mr. Adkins has been engagedin the milling business since 1869, and the work which he does has beenremarkably successful, the patronage which he has attracted to this placefor milling purposes being steadily on the increase. If close applicationand study of the wants of his customers will serve to make a permanentsuccess, Mr. Adkins has most assuredly deserved the success which has attended hisefforts.
