Winnie Florence Farnham was born on 26th October 1901 at Tea Green in the parish of Offley, Hertfordshire. She was the daughter of a plait bleacher named Frederick Farnham and his wife Rose. The family appears in the 1911 census living in the neighbouring town of Luton.

In 1922, Winnie married Redvers Reginald (Reg) Horsler. They appear to have had one daughter.

Reg died in 1987, aged 86. Winnie outlived him by over ten years and died in 1998, aged 96.
