Wilson William Crump Keyte
d.1949
Facts and Events
Wilson William Crump Keyte was born in 1885 at Broadway in Worcestershire, son of a domestic servant and gloveress named Ann Keyte. His father is unknown. Wilson William appears in the 1891 census living at China Square in Broadway with his mother and her parents, listed simply as William, suggesting he was known by his second name.
William's mother Ann married in 1893. The 1901 census finds William living with his mother, stepfather and siblings in Broadway, and working as a grocer's assistant.
William served with the 11th (Service) Battalion Worcestershire Regiment during the First World War and was awarded the Military Medal and the Greek Military Cross.
William died, aged 64, in 1949.
