09/07/2001 Wilson G. "Cookie" Damschroder, 86, of Lindsey, OH, died Wednesday, September 5, 2001, at Genoa Care Center, Genoa, OH. He was born in Elmore on February 15, 1915, a son of Arthur and Nellie (Schwartz) Damschroder. Mr. Damschroder was a farmer for many years and was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Fremont, where he served on the council. He was also a former member of the Gibsonburg Board of Education and had served as chairman. Mr. Damschroder was a member of the Moose Lodge, Fremont, the Sandusky CO and Ottawa CO Historical Societies, the Sandusky CO Farm Bureau, Fremont Kiwanis Club, Lutheran Brotherhood Communicators, and was a former president of the board of Lin-Mor, Inc. He was a former member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Hessville. Mr. Damschroder married the former Mary Waggoner on October 9, 1937, and she survives. Mr. and Mrs. Damschroder traveled extensively and saw many sights around the world. Also surviving are his sons, James (Dorothy) Damschroder, Elmore, Scott (Norma) Damschroder, Studio City, CA, Jerry (Alice) Damschroder, VanNuys, CA, and Dennis Damschroder, Alexandria, OH; brothers, Richard Damschroder, Fremont, OH, Eugene (Lulu) Damschroder, Fremont, OH; sister, Mildred (Ed) Zimba, Port Orange, FL; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Howard, Thomas, and Forrest Damschroder; sisters, Irene Damschroder and Leona Hamilton, and a granddaughter, Stephanie Damschroder. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Crosser Funeral Home, Elmore, where the family will be present from 7-9 p.m. Sunday only. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Faith Lutheran Church, (corner of Sandusky CO Road 128 and U.S. Route 20), Fremont, OH. The Rev. James Avers will officiate, and interment will be in Union Cemetery, Elmore. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or the Luther Home of Mercy, Williston, OH.
