Chapman were accompanied from his former home in South Rockwood to Morenci Tuesday for burial, the funeral party coming on a special car over the T & W. Mr. Chapman died at his home at South Rockwood Sunday at the advanced age of 81 years. He was born in Holmes County, Ohio in 1826 and enjoyed the distinction of being among those who were attracted to California in 1849, making the journey overland and returning by Cape Horn. He resided in Seneca township for a number of years and afterwards moved to this village, and thence to the home where his last days were spent. He is survived by his wife, one daughter and four sons - Mrs. Emma Frantz of South Rockwood; L.L.D. Chapman, a prominent insurance man of Toledo; F. A. Chapman, cashier of the Woolson Spice Co, of the same city; Frank S., local telephone manager at Kenton, OH and Dr. V. A. Chapman of Muskegon. The remains were followed to their last resting place at Oak Grove cemetery by a number of the deceased's old friends and acquaintances. Rev. G. F. Hall conducted brief services at the grave.
