BROKEN BOW — Wilma I. Eacker, 90, of Broken Bow died Friday, Nov. 16, 2001, at Sandhills Manor Nursing Home in Broken Bow.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Broken Bow. The Rev. Robert Strawn will officiate. Burial will be in Broken Bow Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Govier Brothers Mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to the church.

Mrs. Eacker was born Nov. 19, 1910, in Whitman to Charles T. and Carolyn (Winkelman) Dunning. At the age of 3, she moved with her family to a farm six miles northeast of Merna. She attended Pleasant Valley country school and Merna High School, and graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1929.

She married Gilbert Eacker on July 22, 1931, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Broken Bow. They made their home in Broken Bow. She worked as a telephone operator and was also a bookkeeper for several businesses, including the family refrigeration business and auto parts business. She also sold sewing machines and gave sewing lessons. She worked at Becton Dickinson and also was a clerk and bookkeeper at Lyddon's Ben Franklin for several years.

Her husband died March 27, 1997. She moved to Off Broadway Apartments in Broken Bow in July 1998.

She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Broken Bow and Aid Association for Lutherans. She enjoyed china painting, water color painting, knitting and sewing. She had made several wedding dresses for many brides.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Dean Leigh of Orange, Calif., and Shirley and Rod Petersen of Phoenix, Calif.; a son and daughter-in-law, William and Carolyne Eacker of Colorado Springs, Colo.; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; and a sister, Evelyn G'Schwind.
