Willis and his wife Nancy were about 9 years old when their families moved from Virigina to Ohio (about 1803?) At 16 they married and lived with their parents on the farm that later became known as the Willis Spain farm. It was located one mile west of North Lewisburg, Ohio. It later was owned and farmed by Dow Gilbert and his son Milo. Dow is the great-grandson of Willis. Willis owned many acres of land that he divided among his children. He helped to build the first Methodist Church of North Lewisburg, Ohio. It was a log building 1 mile west of North Lewisburg on Spain cemetery property. |
