- ↑ 11.0 11.1 Willis appears in City Directories for 1940 in both Great Falls, Montana, and Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He does not appear in the US Census in either location. Jane appears in the 1940 cenus under her maiden name, listed as single.
Willis' Social Security Card was issued in Oklahoma, in or before 1937.
Willis and Jane are said to have married about 1940.
The most likely explanation for the discrepancies is that Willis lived in Bartlesville, at least by 1937, that he returned Great Falls briefly late in 1939, and returned to Bartlesville very early in 1940; that he was missed by census takers in both locations, and that information for the Great Falls Directory was collected late in 1939, that for the Bartlesville Directory shortly after he had returned to Bartlesville and he and Jane were married.
