Marriage license states that Mrs. George Shrout, mother of Lucy Alice Rosier, gave permission for her to be married since she was only 17 years old at the time. Willie C. Benson was 32. Willie registered for the WWI Draft in June 1917 and the WWII Draft on April 27, 1942.

I remember my mother, Bertha, recalling that her father loved to play his fiddle at community square dances. He also entertained the crowd by performing "grindin' the coffee," swinging a straightened leg under him while squatting on the other leg. This was often done while standing on the barn rafters!
