1972 - Obituary in the Glen Cove Record-Pilot dated Thursday, November 30, 1972: William Womack; retired butler. William John Womack of McKinley Pl., for many years a butler and valet for private households in this area, died Nov. 24 in Community Hospital. He was 76 years old. Born in England, Mr Womack came to this country in 1920 after having served in the British Army during World War 1. He was a U.S. citizen. Retired at the time of his death, he had at one time worked as a valet for Arthur Loew. He had also worked as a storekeeper for the Sperry Rand organisation. He is survived by his widow Aasine, and four sisters: Doris Beard, Beatrice Barton, Gertrude Miller and Frances Womack. The Rev. Maury M Drum conducted funeral services at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Glen Head on Monday evening. Interment was under the direction of the Whitting Funeral Home. Contributions may be made to Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church memorial fund.
