He was a master mariner. He was admitted a Freeman in Cranston, 25 June 1754. He sailed from Charleston, S. C., homeward bound, 14 Jan 1763, which was the last seen of him; the vessel was lost on Ocrecoch Bar, N. C., during a thunderstorn. Memorial stone says he was age 34.
Administration on his estate was granted to his widow Deliverance Waterman, 3 May 1766. Inventory of the goods of "William Waterman Late of Cranston Yeoman; absent & not heard of since the 14th Day of January A. D. 1763 at Time he sailed from Charlestown in South Carolina homewards Bound" was appraised 24 Feb 1766 by Nathan Williams and Thomas Williams, Jr. ...
Zuriel Waterman and Deliverance Waterman, both of Cranston, yeoman and "widow by presumption," and Administratrix of the Estate of William Waterman Late of Cranston, yeoman.
