Oxford Maine Democrat, March 24, 1874: "William F. Wardwell and J.A. Caldwell have just returned from Northern Vermont with a lot of very nice horses."

Oxford Maine Democrat, February 15, 1881: "Willian F. Wardwell's carriage shed was crushed by snow last Saturday night. Two top carriages and one open wagon were badly mashed."

Oxford Maine Democrat, September 9, 1884,: "William F. Wardwell has gone to Idaho with a carload of blooded stock, for the improvement of the stock there. He sold his livery stable to his son, Leander F. Wardwell, before going away. Mr. Wardwell has some of the finest horses and carriages in town, and is a very pleasant and accomodating man to deal with."
