  • William Walker of Bedford County and wife Elizabeth on 19 Aug 1776 conveyed to George Carrington, John Nicholas and Samuel Jordan, Trustees appointed.. (by the Commonwealth of Virginia for paying away £5000 to John Ballendine and John Bevely for the purpose of erecting and carrying on a Blast furnace situated on Phelps Creek), for £95, 200 acres on the branches of Bear Garden Creek granted to William Walker by patent 26 September 1768. The deed was signed by Wm. (X) Walker, and witnessed by Hardin Perkins, Benjamin Cottrell, Wm. Gates and Anthony Murry. It was acknowledged in Buckingham County on 14 October 1776 by William and Elizabeth Walker, and attested by Rolfe Eldridge, clerk.
