  6.   Admiralty Stables, in Great Scotland Yard, has been traced to a building called the "Clock House". This was occupied by the Metropolitan Police in 1850 so it can be taken that William Turvey was the coachman to the police's Horse Patrol. [3]
  7. Hicks Lane is now Wroslyn Road, Freeland. [4] It is possible that William worked at Eynsham Hall, a manor house 1 mile west of Freeland. Eynsham Hall was purchased in 1866 by James Mason, a successful copper miner, whose records include spending on the stables. [5]
