William Toon appeared in Lawrence County, Indiana with a deed in 1829. So did an apparent brother, Hilary Toon. A William Toon and Hilary Toon were brothers from Fancy Farms, Graves County, Kentucky. Flora (Keller) Garten, granddaughter of William Toon of Martin County, Indiana told her grandson in 1971 that William's place of origin was Fancy Farms, Kentucky. Later research done on the Toons of Fancy Farms, Kentucky did find a William Toon who was born about the same time as William Toon of Martin County, Indiana. The problem is that William of Fancy Farms married and had a family in Fancy Farms, Kentucky. He is supposed to be buried there.

Again Flora (Keller) Garten told a family story that her grandfather, William Toon, travelled frequently up and down the Mississippi River to New Orleans to sell goods. Could this be the same William Toon of Fancy Farms, Kentucky; a man with two families?
