Source is Thoburn bible. Kirkbampton is listed in both the 1901 UK census and 1861 UK census. Also UK birth registration listed his birth in the last quarter of the year in 1848. 1861 - William Thoburn 12 was living with his parents, William and Mary Thoburn in Thursby, Cumberland. Source is 1861 UK census. 1871 - William Thoburn 22, labourer, bachelor, married Elizabeth Renforth 19 on May 29, 1871 in Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland. Witnesses were William Lawson and Annie Taylor. They were married in the Register Office. Their residence at the time of marriage was New Pandon Street, Newcastle. Source is certified copy of entry of marriage and England and Wales BMD Marriage Index 1837-1915. 1875 - When his son George was born, William 26, was listed as a 'labourer at a coal depot'. Source is George Thoburn I birth certificate. 1901 - William 52, a self employed coal dealer, was living with Elizabeth Ann 49 and some of the younger children: John Robert 20, Margaret 18, James 16, Robert 14, Mary 12, William Septimus 10 and Ann 5 at 24 Denmark St, Gateshead, Durham. The older children had either left home or died (William Robert died in 1874, George, Elizabeth, and William Thomas died in 1887). Two of the boys worked for their father. Source is 1901 UK Census. George Thoburn I may be away at the war in South Africa. 1909 - William died on Nov 1, 1909 (the same day as his son George was murdered in Saskatchewan). Source is Thoburn bible.
