- Will of William C. Taylor of the County of Montgomery and State of Virginia
- "I wish my Executors hereafter named to pay off and discharge all legal obligations against me, including burial and funeral expenses."
- "Secondly, I give and bequeath to my three oldest Children, to wit: Wm. P. & Mary M. Grant and James J. Taylor the sum of twelve hundred dollars each to be paid out of my Estate."
- "Thirdly. It is my will and I accordingly direct that the balance of my Estate, after paying all debts and the legacies above named be held by my wife Mildred Ann for and during the time of Eight years, for the purpose of raising supporting & Educating my Children by her and at the expiration of said term it is my will that she have her dower laid off and assigned to her according to law. And that the remainder of my Estate be rented out and if any money be on hand it be put out on interest until the youngest child becomes of age. And in the mean time my Executor is at liberty, and so directed, to make any advancement to such as may arrive at lawful age. But in the event of my wife's marriage, then she is to have her dower laid off and assigned to her, and the remainder of my Estate to be taken into possession by my Executors and managed and disposed of as before directed."
- "Forthly. When my youngest child becomes of age, and a distribution takes place, it is my will, that each of my children, both by my first and second wife, receive an equal share of my Estate, or their children in case of the death of any should they have such, provided how ever that in the event of the Estate which my wife of myself may receive from her father John G. Cecil deceased by restricted to her children, then it it my Will, and I accordingly direct that so much of my Estate be withheld from the children by my last wife and given to the children of my first wife, as will make them equal in shares; as it is my wish that all should receive equally of my estate."
- "Last of all. I do hereby appoint William H. Trollinger and William H. Earhart my lawful Executors in this my last Will and Testament in Testimony where I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 1st day of August 1870.
