In 1881 he's a House Decorator living at 12 Cumberland Place, Henderson Drive, Ramsgate with his wife, daughter Ethel (1) and a boarder - William Salmon, plumber.

In 1891 he's still a house decorator, living at 2 Wellington Terrace Ramsgate with his wife, 2 sons (Archibald and William) and his mother-in-law, Margaret Ann Kisky nee Brown. (His daughter Ethel is visiting Louisa's brother, Henry and his family).
