    W. H. Swift, 88, a resident of Dallas for thirty-six years, died early Monday at his home, 1341 Englewood. Funeral services will be held at Sparkman-Branch Funeral Home at 2 p. m. Tuesday. Dr. Allen W. Moore will officiate, assisted by Dr. Sam H. Campbell. Swift was born in Nacogdoches County, Dec. 19, 1857, one of thirteen children. His parents were Mrs. Nancy Walker Swift and Col. W. H. Swift. His father was State Senator during the Twelfth, Thirteenth, and Fourteenth Legislatures, with Swift, a boy, serving as page. Engaged in the mercantile business for many years, he established the town, which was named for him, Swift, Texas. He moved to Dallas after his retirement. A member of the Methodist Church, he served as steward and superintendent of the Sunday school for many years. Survivors include six of his eight children, Mrs. Sam H. Campbell, Mrs. Cherry J. Oldham, D. L. Swift, and T. E. Swift, all of Dallas; Mrs. R. R. Revier of Detroit, Mich., and Mrs. Velvia Clem of Longview; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; a brother, Dee Swift of Carlsbad, N. M.. and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be B. Boyington, Ray Clem, W. E. Lynch, Norwood Blankinship, H. Allen Butler, and J. H. Belote. Burial will be at Oak Cliff Cemetery.
