    William Swaine, b. ca. 1619. He arrived in Boston on the Rebecca in 1635, age 16. William is identified as a son of Richard1 Swaine in a deed from Richard Swaine of Hampton to Hezekiah Swaine, "my grandchilde my sone Williams eldest sonne," on 22 April 1658. William d. at sea: "The sad hand of God upon Eight p[er]sons goeing in a vessell by sea from Hampton to boston who were all swallowed up in the ocian sone after ther ware out of the Harbour. … He m. ca. 1649, Prudence Marston, daughter of William1 Marston of Hampton. She m. (2) Hampton, 16 June 1658, Moses1 Cox.

    William Swaine, sou of Richard (1), married Prudence, daughter of William Marston (1); lived on apart of his father's home lot (nearly opposite Mrs. Dorothy Ward's). He was one of the eight, lost at sea, in 1657.
    [p. 985] Their [Richard and Basselle's] sons, William and Francis, preceded the parents in coming to America. "Entered as passengers in the Rebecca, John Hedges, master [6 Apr., 1635], William Swayne, 16, and Francis Swayne, 14 years of age.
