THE WILL OF WILLIAM SUDDARTH, SR.

I William Suddarth, Sr. of Albemarle County and State of Virginia Being in health and of Sound mind do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in the manner following to wit-

To my son Richard P. Suddarth I give the tract of land on which he now lives and bounded as follows Beginning at the fork of the old road formally (formerly?) leading from Morises old store to Nelson Court house thence as his fence now runs to a pine South of the mill thence to the waste (west?) gate of the mill thence a Cross the Creek to the road thence with the road to a persimmon tree near his spring on the north side of the road near the mouth of a gully thence to a black Oak corner north of his house thence with a new line to the upper end of a plant bed? on side of Chalk mountain to be a straight line from black Oak corner to the top of Chalk mountain thence with my line to a corner between me and Garrett White thence with said Whites line to a corner between me and George Martin Dec'd thence with said Martin's line to the top of persimmon mountain to a corner Oak thence with the dividing fence to the fork of the road at the Beginning. I also give my son Richard the following negroes Taylor Randolph and Pheby Mayard? Robert and Isaac with their increase.

To my son James W. Suddarth I give the plantation whereon I now live and bounded as follows beginning on the top of persimmon mountain at an Oak Corner thence with dividing fence to fork of old road formally(formerly?) leading from Morises old store to Nelson Court house thence with said road to a corner between me and James Suddarth Sr.? thence with said J. Suddarth line to a corner in Wm Davises Dec'd line thence with sd. line to a corner in Andrew Harts line thence with James W. Suddarth line to a corner in Skiler Harrises Dec'd thence with said Harris's line to beginning on top of persimmon mountain. I also give my son James the following negroes Jacob Gabrial and Wilson also two bed steads and furniture. to my son William H. Suddarth I give the tract of land below the mill and bounded as follows beginning at the fork of the old road formally(formerly?) leading from Morises old store to Nelson Court House thence with my son Richard's fence to a pine South of the mill thence to a waste (west?) gate of the mill thence a Cross the Creek to the road thence with the road to a persimmon tree near Richard P. Suddarths spring on the nothern side said road thence to a black Oak corner north of Richd. P. Suddarths house thence with new line to upper end of the plant bed? thence to top of the Chalk mountain thence with Garett White line to Willis Liggan's line thence with said Liggan's line to James Suddarths line thence to a corner between me and said Suddarth thence with old road to the beginning. I also give my son William my mill and saw mill with all the waters that is necessary for the purpose of sd. mill I also give my son William the following negroes Samuel. Daniel. Emanual. and Addison also two bedsteads and furniture. It is my will that my son Richd. & James pay Wm. four hundred dollars to build a house.To my daughter Nancy S.? Liggon I give the following negroes George Mariah Andrew Shelton Elvira Matthew & Tom with their increase. To my daughter Sara S. Suddarth I give the following negroes Edward Lewis Eliza Cornelia? Evaline & Obeded? with their increase also my mare to be worth not less than sixty dollars also two beds and furniture. To my daughter Patsy R. Suddarth I give the following negroes Taylor Mary the daughter of Molly Diner William son of Peggy Williamson son of Charity & Caroline with their increase also one mare to be worth not less than Sixty dollars.To my daughter Elizabeth F. Dettor I give the following negroes Robert, Ceaser? Charles. Charity wife of Robt. and Ditsy with their increase.

To my daughter Mildred I give the following negroes Philip. Miner Lucy Martha Richard and Charity with daughter of Charity with their increase also one mare to be worth not less than sixty dollars. It is also my will that my mountain track of land shall be sold and the money arising therefrom be equally divided between my five daughters Nancy. Sara. Patsey. Elizabeth. and Mildred. It is also my will that all the balance of my property (negroes that has not been specially named) Stock of every discription house hold and Kitchen furniture and plantation tools shall be sold and the money arising therefrom be equally Divided between my five daughters Nancy. Sara. Patsey Elizabeth & Mildred. It is also my will that my three daughters shall have room of my house as long as they remain un married Sara. Patsey and Mildred and here I wish to be expressly understood that the above named property that I have given my daughters Nancy Sara. Patsey Elizabeth and Mildred I give it to them and their heirs lawfully begotten of their body reserving to them and them alone the right thereof and if any of them Shall decease without such heir it is my will that they Shall have the right to give it to whom they please. It is also my will that the three mares that are to be bought for Sara Patsey and Mildred Shall be bought by my Executors and paid for out of the money arising from property sold of my Estate. And it is further my will that If I should decease before I discharge my debts that whatever remains unpaid shall be equally paid by my eight Children Richd. James Wm. Nancy Sara Patsey Elizabeth and Mildred. And I also ordain and appoint my Sons Richard James and William Suddarth my sold executors of this my last Will & Testament and I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disanul all and every other former will and Testament by me in any wise before named and ratefying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 9th June 1831.
