Willliam Henry Steeves was one of the "Fathers of Confederation". In 1846 he became liberal member in the NB legislative assembly representing Albert County. He held this position for 5 years and then was appointed to the legislative council and named a member of the executive. He held the position of minister of public works for eight years. On the completion of Confederation in 1867, Steeves was chosen as a representative of New Brunswick in the Senate. References
