NOTE: I have not found him definitively before 1930. There is a 'William Spohn', son of Henry Spohn and Susan Tuers, listed in Essex Co. in 1900-1930. In the 1900 census for Montclair, Essex Co., New Jersey, in the Children's Home, there are listings for Mabel Spohn 9 b. Mar 1891 NJ; Arthur 11 b. Mar 1889; and William 6 b. May 1894 -- all born NJ (parents not recorded). In the 1910 census for Montclair, Essex Co., New Jersey, Arthur Spohn is ; with wife Lillian A. 18 MI (MI, Canada); sister Mabel 18; brother William 14 'errand boy'; lodgers Harry Mann 18 'chauffeur'; Victor (Krehbiely?) 16 'apprentice - cabinet maker'; daughter Margaret Spohn 7 mos -- all born NJ (parents NJ); and mother-in-law Margaret Ridsdale 36 Canada (parents Canada), emigrated 1880, married once for 17 years, with 3 of 3 children living, 'own income'. NOTE: I am not sure if this is the correct William in the 1920 census. In the 1920 census for Montclair, Essex Co., New Jersey, William 'Spawn' is 24 NJ (NY, NY), single, 'driver - automobile'. He is boarding with Charles Pierce 35 NJ 'driver automobile'; wife Louise 33 NJ (father 'at sea', mother NJ); and their children Albin 13; Charles 11; and Marion 1 and 6 mos. In the 1930 census, Lillian is wife of William Spaghn [indexed as 'Spagna'], on Centre St. in Nutley, Essex Co., New Jersey. William is 35, born NY, an accountant for an insurance co. Lillian is 34, born New Jersey (parents New Jersey), married first at 31(?), a clerk in an insurance firm. Her sister Florence is living with them, age 27, born New Jersey (parents New Jersey), also a clerk in insurance. {ED 7-565, sh 3b} References
