    "MAJOR WILLIAM SOULE(SOWLES)born at Duxbury, 1738, died at Alburgh, Grand Isle County, Vermont, 23rd March 1811...His early life was spent at Woolwich, Maine...He was a staunch Royalist, had a command under General Burgoyne at the Battle of Saratoga, 17 October 1777. Married at Duxbury, Anna Sewall of Bath, Maine...their tombstones are standing in the old cemetery at Alburgh, Vermont.
