    MIGRATION: 1635 (based on mention in Ipswich land records in 1635 [ITR]).
    OCCUPATION: Husbandman. In 1647 the town of Ipswich "[a]greed with William Symonds and John Moss to keep the herd of cows on the north side of the river" [Hammatt Papers 366]. Laborer [ILR 1:9, 35]. Ferryman. On 13 October 1663, Hampton court ordered "that Daniell Ela have one half the ferry at Haverhill according to his covenant with Will[am] Simmons and according to the county court order to said Simons about said ferry" [EQC 3:100; see also ILR 2:212]. On 8 October 1667, "Sam[uel] Simons was ordered to keep the ferry at Haverhill until next Salisbury court" [EQC 3:451].
    On 8 October 1667, administration on the estate of "Willi[am] Simons" was granted to "Sam[uel] Simons, and he was to have until the next Salisbury court for perfecting the inventory [EPR 2:101; EQC 3:451].
    BIRTH: By about 1610 (based on estimated date of marriage).
    DEATH: By 8 October 1667 (grant of administration on his estate). On 14 April 1668, "Court allowed 12d. each to the jury of inquest upon the untimely death of W[illia]m Simons, for their expenses" [EQC 4:24].
