- ↑ From Shilvock One Name Study: "Local paper obituary dated 11.4.1942 for William King describes his arrival in Boston in 1883. He went West to drive cattle from the Mexican border to Kansas. In 1885 he worked on the construction of the Canadian Pacific railway near Revelstoke. He then hiked from Yale to Vancouver. He went to Johannesburg during the gold rush in 1894 before returning to the US in 1895. He lived in the Maritime Provinces and then Chicago before joining the Rossland gold rush. In 1903 he moved to Vancouver."
