MR. WILLIAM J. SHEPARD, 82, died on Sunday, June 16, 1957 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Mildred (Harry) Hagerty at 7 p.m..
He was born in Slippery Rock, PA to James and Myria Barr Shepard on December 12, 1874. He first married Ethel Lena Wise in 1897, she preceded him in death. The couple had three daughters, Vivian, Mildred and Gladys, and one son Clyde Shepard. Mildred and Gladys survive. Survivors also included a brother, Scott Shepard in Miami, FL, four grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
William's second marriage was to Mabel Mateer
in 1936 which last 21 years and his death. She survived William but died eight days after his death.
William was a retired tin mill worker and later worked at Jameson Hospital in New Castle. He was a member of the Third UP Church and the Loyal Order of Moose.
A funeral service was conducted at the Cunningham Funeral Home by Rev. Thomas Cross and Cuyler Ferguson. Interment followed at Graceland Cemetery.
