William Shepherd, b. 1758 (prob. abt. 1753), d. 1-Sept -1777, at the seige of Fort Henry. He was caught by the Indians surrounding the fort as he made a dash to return to the fort. He was almost in the gate when he was killed and scalped. He had a daughter who became his sole heir. She was named Elizabeth and married Zephaniah Beall. William married Rebecca McCulloch, sister of Hugh McCulloch.
