Hamilton Child's "Gazetteer of Jefferson County, New York" has the following entry: "William Seaver from Cavendish, Vt., located in Lowville, Lewis County, in 1829, and in 1855 settled in Sackets Harbor. He had a family of five children, three of whom are living; Richard F. and Alanson D., in Watertown, and Charles in New York City. W. H. Seaver, of Richard F., was born in Watertown, October 18, 1865. He married Mary J. Parker, they have one daughter, Bessie May. Mr. Seaver is a machinist by trade. He was elected alderman of the First Ward in 1888. " CENSUS: In the 1850 US census for New York, the Wm Sever family resided in Pamelia, Jefferson County, New York. The household included William Sever (age 44, a distillery agent, born in MA), Eliza Sever (age 46, born VT), Richard F. Sever (age 15, born NY), Eliza A. Sever (age 13, born NY), William Sever (age 11, born NY), Charles Sever (age 7, born NY) and Alanson Sever (age 3, born NY). [FHL Microfilm 0,017,090, page 235, dwelling #83]. In the 1860 US census for New York, the William Seaver family resided in Watertown, Jefferson County, New York. The family included William Seaver (age 55, carpenter, $1,000 real property, $5,000 personal property, born MA), Eliza Seaver (age 55, born VT), Charles Seaver (age 17, born NY) and Alonso Seaver (age 15, born NY). [FHL Microfilm 0,803,762, page 556, dwelling #91]. In the 1870 US Census for New York, the William Seaver family resided in Watertown 4th Ward, Jefferson county, New York. The household included William Seaver (age 65, carpenter, $3,000 in real property, $2,500 in personal property, born MA), Eliza Seaver (age 65, keeping house, born VT), and the family of James A.
