William Rowley (or Rowell - the names appear to have been used interchangeably in Stotfold in the late 1700s) was baptised on 31st October 1782 at Stotfold in Bedfordshire, son of James and Elizabeth Rowley.

On 16th July 1808, aged 25, he married Sarah Moles, who was also from Stotfold. They went on to have two daughters together in Stotfold between 1808 and 1810. Sarah died in 1811, aged 27. They had been married for less than three years. William's younger daughter died when she was only seven years old in 1817.

William died at the age of 53, being buried at Stotfold on 14th May 1836.
