Lease and release - John (x) ROTTON, Sr. and William (x) ROTTON, Sr., "brothers jointly" of South Carolina, to Edward BALLENGER of Spartenburg lease for 10 shillings, release for 60£ sterling, 300 ac. on both sided of the south branch of Lawson's Fork waters of Pacolaet River, granted to John ROTTON by Wm. TRYON, Governor of North Carolina and conveyed to William ROTTON but deed is lost, therefore both sign conveyance to BALLENGER. DB B, pp. 533 - 534.
