William P. "Babe" Richey, 83, Frankfort, died at 8:20 p.m. May 27, 2007, in Wesley Manor following an extended illness.
Mr. Richey graduated from Michigantown High School in 1941 and attended Purdue University and Southern Methodist University. He was a World War II veteran with the U.S. Marines 1944-46 and served in Japan. He was a self-employed farmer and farm drainage contractor.
He was a lifelong resident of Michigan Township until moving to Frankfort in 2000. He was a member of Michigantown Methodist Church, Michigantown Lions Club, a 50-year member of Beard Masonic Lodge and the Frankfort American Legion and VFW. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid sports fan.
He was born June 17, 1923, in Michigantown to Samuel and Mabel Elliott Richey. He married Edith Irene Ridenour on June 13, 1948, and she survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Michael (Pamela Kaye) Shores of Springboro, Ohio; one son, Monte Lee (Doris) of Michigantown; one sister, Betty Snyder of Muncie; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
One sister, Mary Baker; three brothers, Arlie, Rodney and Richard Richey; and two great-grandchildren preceded him in death.
