The book A History of Shady Spring District (1978) page 318 is my source of Francina Redden's parents William and Fanny Kaylor Redden. It says that William Redden (b. about 1772) and Fanny came to the US in about 1795 and landed in Philadelphia. They bought a farm near Staunton, Virginia and around 1810 they journeyed to Raleigh County, WV and bought land on the plateau between Mill Creek and Glade Creek.

A different source, retrieved from WVGenWeb titled Smith-Riffe Collection from the holdings of the Raleigh County Archives: "Redden, John - settled on Redden's Ridge near Table Rock. His sons were Harrison, Michael, William and Joseph."

Some of the info from the two sources corresponds, i.e. p. 268 of the Shady Spring book writes that James H. Redden (i.e. Harrison) is married to an Eliza. James H. has the brothers Michael, William and Joseph. The difference is that the Shady book says that William Redden, Sr. is the father of Harrison, Michael, William and Joseph.
