Mary (Porter) Brown's parentage is uncertain. Mary's marriage to Samuel Brown is recorded in both the Beverly and Salem vital records, 7 Jan 1728/29. It seems likely that William had two daughters named Mary, one born before 1710, the other much later.

William Porter, s/o Israel Porter and , b. 12 Feb 1688-9, d. by 1755 when his estate was administered in Middlesex county, mentioning widow Mary; sons William, Benjamin, Jonathan, Nathan, George, Josiah, Joseph; daughters Mary Brown, Ginger and Mary.
[Mary the daughter was baptized in 1745, so probably not old enough to be married in 1755. So the identity of "Mary Brown" is unclear. This source does not explain the inclusion of Mary Brown and Mary both in the list of children, and does not show another daughter Mary.]
