We hear from the Town of Hollis, that about a Fortnight ago the House of Mr. William Pool, with a great Part of his Household substance, was consumed by Fire.

  7.   Source:Eaton, Lilley. Genealogical History of the Town of Reading, Mass, p. 108, says William, the son of Benja. Poole, "removed to Danvers, and was ancestor of Fitch Poole, Esq., of Danvers". This is an error, apparently, one would guess, caused by not checking the work of one's correspondent. Fitch Poole was born to William and Elizabeth Poole in Danvers in 1772, or 1773 according to the duplicate record. The father William died in Danvers 1776 in his 45th year, so age 44 and born about 1732. Not a good match to this William, who, according to his father's probate, was of Hollis in 1773, and was born 6 years earlier than this. It is relatively straightforward to determine that the William of Danvers of was the son of Zachariah and Rebecca Poole of Medford, b. 1732, who had a brother Fitch Poole who died in Boston in 1770, inspiring William to name his next son Fitch.
